Project - How to choose between quartz and granite

Countertops can make or break a bathroom. But how do you choose between quartz and granite? While both are popular materials, they are different in several ways.

  • First would be the Composition. Granite is a natural stone that is made up of different minerals, including quartz, feldspar, mica, and other minerals. Quartz, on the other hand, is an engineered stone made up of crushed quartz, resin, and pigments.
  • Second would be the Appearance. Granite is a natural stone with a unique and varied pattern that is formed by the minerals it contains. Quartz, on the other hand, is an engineered stone with a more uniform appearance, since it is manufactured to have a consistent look.
  • For us, third is the Durability. Both granite and quartz are durable materials that can last for many years. However, granite is more prone to chipping and cracking, while quartz is more resistant to these types of damage.
  • Another thing we look at is the Maintenance it requires. Granite is a porous material that can absorb liquids and stains, so it requires regular sealing to prevent damage. Quartz, on the other hand, is non-porous and does not require sealing, making it easier to maintain.
  • Last, is the Price Tag. The cost of granite and quartz can vary depending on the quality, color, and design. However, in general, quartz tends to be more expensive than granite due to its manufacturing process.

Overall, both granite and quartz have their advantages and disadvantages, and the choice between them will depend on your personal preferences and needs.

Hope that helped and we are here if you need us!!
